Here A Moo ... There A Moo

Bringing the cattle across

Early this morning there were moos in the air waves on this ridge.  My dh with Mick and Mate ( blue heelers) brought the cattle from one side of the ranch to the other.  The WV weather hasn't been conducive for making hay.

It gives us time to stop and smell the roses, or in our case appreciate the gracefulness of the mimosa tree!

In a small country valley in WV there was a dedication to Revolutionary Patriot John Williamson. The location was one of the older cemeteries where a few of the very first settlers of the area had attended Church.  It was a wonderful dedication and the results of many years of research by one of John's descendants.

While I'm in my history mode here are photo's of Harper's Ferry WV that I took on our trip there last weekend.  Til we meet again may you find some time to happily pull loops!

Turkey Vultures, etc.

Across the meadow, 3 turkey vultures on the gate.

We'd just had a rain when I noticed these three drying out a bit after the storm.  The camera I use is not equipped with a grand zoom but felt this was a photo to share.

The WV skies were both bright and dark this evening with a storm heading our way.  Utilizing photos helps me visualize what I may want to hook.  As I am working on two rugs now, both will soon need their skies hooked, I took advantage of the view out my back door.  The rugs may not look anything like these photos when I am done! In fact I can promise you that they won't :O) but the inspiration is there.

...................the Deanne Fitzpatrick pattern that suits my mood for today....my favorite colors are being used ...and the work is heading upwards to house and sky. The flash of my camera changes the colors somewhat.
That's a bit of fuzzy kitten tail up in the top left.

Til we meet again, hook on!

Wristies 4 Rug Hookers

Good morning from the Ranch!  After a lightening display last night, the sun is shining here...perhaps temporarily, but shining!

This will be a short and sweet :O) blog today.  My cellar house wool room is calling me, the great outdoors is calling me, and I know that this day I'll simply call my own.  We all can use a day like that to lift the spirit and make us better people.

I received a gift last evening from my daughter in law.  She sells her handwork on Etsy and has wonderful bling collars for your puppies, large and small. I love her crocheted bonnets for horses to chase away the flies, and she even makes bonnets for those with two legs!.... ok, I'm off topic!   The photo below is of my wristies that she made for me.  They are wonderful for rug hooking to save your arms from the frame pings.  They can be made in cotton or alpaca yarn.  They are a bit more dense and longer to go higher on the arm.  I will use them in the winter months also.  Just look for meddywv on Etsy if you would like to see what she has!

May the sun be shining for you, and even if it isn't may you have a wonderful plan for your Saturday!

ps. my nails aren't often turquoise...it was just one of those days!

It's Hay Season!

The rain has finally stopped and it's time to work in the hay.  Ok.... so I just watch my husband work. <g>

Early morning pre work!

......this is just  the beginning.

Early morning in WV.  Today will be a full day. If you do genealogy research you know one of the "to do's" on my list.  The research happening is for someone else to trace her ancestors to the Revolutionary War.  We don't have the connection yet but the search and computer (and travel) work continues.

As the day goes on the grass needs mowed and the trimming needs done so another to do on my list.  Ahhh then there is the eyes on my handsome son that I need to work on....I almost have him.....almost.  Right now posting the rug just isn't an option! One option is to try a wool with a speck of white in it to make his eyes come alive.

Do you work on more than one rug at a time?  Now I have three started and that is not comfortable for my personality.  So even with outdoor work calling my name I will try to catch up this Summer.

May you find the "calm" by rug hooking, or simply doing what you love to do.
