Eyes of the Tiger

Three years ago at Sauder Village rug hooking gathering Donna Hrkman had a short class on doing eyes.  The tiger eyes hooking is a result of part of her class.  She was one of two teachers at the Guild meeting this past weekend in Ohio.  We got the see her latest piece of art and the chills came!  There are many wonderful works of art in the rug hooking world but keep your eyes open for Donna's next one. It will make "front page"..just sayin'.

The small town of Sistersville comes alive for a week end when they celebrate SHS Alumni.  The town doubles in size, there are decade class gatherings, the parade, the banquet and just memories everywhere.  They were the Tigers!  (So reason two for the eye of the Tiger posting!)

Guild Spring Weekend

As the Spring Guild meeting nears the end everyone lays down what they were working on and we all check it out!  It's a wonderful way to share (and get the ok to nib!).  This also gives you a chance to see how the different instructors guide the individuals to their best!
The Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild has a web page and more photos will be posted there as well as other information on the guild.

Prayers continue for those affected by disasters ....
Write to me ...love to have your comments...happy hooking!

Soon.... Spring Guild Weekend!

May Blooms

The lovely colors of May. Then there is WV by evening with the thunder and rain.

When Life brings Laughter

Rug makers utilize magnets to hold their hooks and scissors on their frames.  One of the favorite people in my life just started to rug hook and purchased a set of the covered magnets.  Placing them in the bottom of her pocketbook for safe keeping. Later as we were leaving a restaurant, (that begins with a Cracker and ends in Barrel)  the smiling eyed hostess stops us....a knife was swinging from the bottom of her pocketbook!  Ok, she couldn't see it, therefore had no idea why we were laughing with tears streaming.

.........................................................Open House at Cedar Lakes Rug Camp

The rug show at Cedar Lakes was wonderful.  All those lovely colors and the different ways they were used to make rug art! We enjoyed visiting two of the instructors classes, and next year both my sister and I will be in one of those classes! It will be her first camp and though a year away, she is looking forward to attending.

The Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild will hold their Spring Weekend soon.  Two instructors will be there and we had our choice.  The instructor that I chose just happened to have a hand in making my favorite rug frame :O)

There will be three gals in my room and we are going to be so well behaved ;o) Sure!!!
The pattern above has been transferred to the rug warp as of today.  Using small dots to show where the major shading will be, and having the actual photo enlarged and in front of me will add to that.  Next will be a visit to my wool material stash to select some colors.  Listening to the instructor whether it is concerning my rug, or others is a valuable way to learn.  Have your questions ready for your teacher concerning your rugs, plus input from your ideas combined to make whatever you are working on yours!

Prayers to those who are struggling.

Ferry Cross the Ohio!

Mother's Day Excursion!

Happy Mother's Day to you!

Sistersville West Virginia still has a Ferry running.  It's a wonderful experience and over too quickly for me. My Revolutionary War ancestor owned a Ferry and Tavern, and though I don't have either, the Ferry ride is wonderful.  This day we took the Ferry and ended up in Sardis OH for a wonderful home cooked meal at Marv's. I hope all of you had a lovely day as well.

My sister and I are looking forward to attending the Open House/Rug Show/ & Store at the Cedar Lakes Rug Camp in Ripley WV this Wednesday. This will be her first visit there and I hope to have her as a roommate at the rug hooking camp next year.  Lunch is on the schedule ( ok, I really enjoy other's cooking for me!). I look forward to seeing the new rugs and patterns.

Get someone else hooked on rugs!  Happy rug making!

Life Happens!

Two great grandchildren now!  Yesterday Kevin arrived in this world on May 4th!  May is a wonderful birthday month for our family.  Kevin is #7 born in May and a handsome young man indeed.  XOXOXO's

I'm to the skies on my larger rug and have it laying on the floor in front of me.  Trying to decide how I want to hook the sky, what direction, where I want the various colors.  I finished the grass and hooked in the larger sections of grass, then did a fill of the medium color, with occasionally placed dark colors.

Life happens.  Today I have to catch up with computer work. May the sun start shining and may the high waters recede quickly.
